Stan Blackwell is an emerging artist, who has a dream-like painting style that attracts audiences from all walks of life. His work can be seen in galleries in Orange County and the Inland Empire. Stan is from Durham North Carolina, he joined the US Air force at 17 years of age. It was through this experience that he gained a deep appreciation of European, Asian, Native American and African art. Although he started painting at the age of nine it was not until several years ago that he decided to make painting a major aspect of his life. Through his fascination with surrealistic painters, he draws strength from a stalwart of Greek mythology, the winged horse Pegasus and the spiritual work of Native American painters. He developed his own style using oils as his preferred medium. Inspired by such artists as Salvador dali, Amado Pena and sculptor John Suazo, his art represents the bitter sweet dreams of things to come as well as what has passed. For Stan the future is happening all the time. Looking into his paintings everyone finds something they can relate to in some way. His intention is to stimulate the imagination and calm the spirit with color and easy motions that you must find in his paintings to truly experience yourself.
